Wadowice is a city in southern Poland, 50 kilometres (31 miles) from Kraków. Wadowice is best known for being the birthplace of Pope John Paul II (1920). You will visit John Paul II family house which has been turned into a papal museum, basilica of Virgin Mary’s – where Karol Wojtyla was baptisted and Carmelite Monastery, you will be able to tried Pope’s cream-cakes on the market square. The life of John Paul II was particularly marked by the mystery of Divine Mercy, which is why our tour also leads to the Sanctuary in Lagiewniki – a place associated with the life and activities Sister Faustyna Kowalska. Since 1940, the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy has been a place of pilgrimage to the famous painting, which depicts Jesus, with the inscription “Jesus, I trust in You”, and to the tomb of Sister Faustyna.
